Baptism

Baptism

Baptism is a sacrament of welcome into the community of Jesus Christ, when the baptized “puts on Christ”. Baptism is the first of three Sacraments of Initiation and opens the door to all the other sacraments. The baptized is being welcomed into a community of faithful, who accept responsibility for assisting the parents with the child's faith formation. For this reason, the faithful should be present. Therefore, baptisms at St. Paul Parish are celebrated during Mass at the Saturday 4:00 pm liturgy or Sunday liturgy at 8:30 am or 10:30 am.

Baptisms are generally scheduled on the first full weekend of the month and upon the parents’ completion of the mandatory Pre Jordan class.

Pre Jordan classes typically meet on the FIRST Thursday of every other month in the Parish Life Center. Class time: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Please contact Deanna Harlan, Adult Faith Formation Coordinator, to register for the next Pre Jordan class. 618-654-2339 ext. 217.
